Our Mission

Harper's Horn Repair and Brass Workshop is Peter Harper's workshop, located in Springfield, NJ and specializing in in-depth brasswind service. At Harper's Horn Repair you can expect a level of individualized service that can only be found at an independently owned shop. 

Peter Harper got his start repairing musical instruments at Nazareth Music Center, of Nazareth, PA, after completing his music degree at Moravian College. In 2016, he moved to New Orleans, LA and founded Harper's Horn Repair, operating his workshop first in the historic French Quarter and later expanding uptown to his longtime shop on Magazine Street. Peter was proud to teach in the New Orleans public school system before demand at the workshop became too great. During its time in New Orleans, Harper's Horn Repair was the go-to shop for the region's top professionals, counting among its customers top-shelf musicians from the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, Preservation Hall, and a multitude of members of New Orleans' vibrant freelance community. Peter continues to serve the region's musicians via mail-in service and through regular trips to New Orleans. 

 

In 2022, Peter began the process of moving his shop to his home state of New Jersey in an effort to be closer to his family and to pursue his vocation at the highest level. Peter's commitment to continuing education and to improving his abilities every day is evident in each instrument that comes across his bench. 

 

When he isn't working in the shop, Peter can usually be found hiking, fishing or canoeing with his wife and dogs.
